SKETCH X LANVIN

CREDITS: IT WAS I WHO DID THIS

<>>///if anna della russo had a bird pet.

anyway i got bored of drawing on human croquis (FIT has clearly taken its toll)... so i decided to reintroduce the blue-footed booby wearing lanvin's latest frock from fall 2010 styled with maison michel headwear.

t h e  c o l l e c t i o n  featured this past week or so was once again riddled to the bone with blackness, and ash hues- draping was done justice as always. think however that the booby is wearing the most exotic piece of the collection, hope y'all like it.

SON HOUSE'S BLACK TIE AFFAIR

CREDITS: GOOGLEY, BESPOK ORIG. SKETCH, DG SHOW

<>>//kinda strange how the first pictures i saw of the fall DG show surfaced not on style.com or nymag but on some chick's blog. i tried searching the show in full and couldnt find it anywhere..
thought that was awesome.

alright moving right along- not sure if many of you have heard about this blues singer son house, let me summarize any extensive searches regarding his music into a couple words or less: whatareyouwaitingforhuh? great word- didnt think i was capable of that. i learned about him through another blues artist - leadbelly (for some authentic/raw sounds listen to "where did you sleep last night")

im sure many of you haven't noticed that i didnt post for like a week or two, well damnit i've been workin on my portfolio for fit, jack pulled an allnighter everyone, last time i did that, it was to enjoy my youth. willingfully.  walked into fit today and found out the review has been canceled. life is so fair everyone.  in the sketch above >>> i took the tie right off of son house's neck and dressed my girl up, and what else can go perfectly with a black tie then a lizard skinned toolbelt/bag...and is that like an extra pair of feet?  i hate putting my original sketches on here but hope you guys like it, it was in fact one of the many looks i procrastinated on for my fit portfolio and quite possibly something for my line?  AFTER the illustration was drawn (yeah i went there), i checked out a BLOG, and found the DG show...bow to bow with blackness, oh sonny. gosh im so full of words today...so try and read it this doesn't happen often.

* will have more sketches of recent shows coming in soon, i pinky swear.

<>><><>>>>>>///wonder woman

SKETCH BY MARK DAVIS
<>><><<<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>>><<>//////////

SKETCH IS SOLD

KLUDDDER<>>>>  forget who made the masterpiece above, but wonderwoman must've really been asking for it- totally kidding (cant afford to piss off my 99.9888% female viewers). although as long as we're speaking of women who were clearly asking for it, lets bring up cruela deville, because not only is there a complete lack of C.D. on these blogs, but in all reality ladies and gents..who else can rok two toned hair? (and curlers nonetheless). moving right along- in the sketch below i tried something new not sure if i'm liking it but- change trumps anything consistently comfortable eh?

SKETCH///>> POP QUIZ

<>>///throw me a bone...
...what designer was used to bring you this sketch, can anyone guess?
to be completely honest i forgot where i got the inspiration from
hint: think spring 2010

>>> about the sketch > > >
after posting about tribal influence the other day, i couldnt help but bring it to the page and come full circle with it.  its way too fun of a theme to just be a bystander of so i found a way to make it my own via sketching.  sorry for the off skin color, i'm in talks right now with my abused mastercard to bring photoshop to my mac, but for now i answer to the negligent wills of the only shotcaller i got- scanner.

have yourself a happy 12:00 am.

SKETCH

>>>>> D U M B O   T A K E N   B Y   V O D I A N O V A <<<<<
my rational for this one was simply: well i like sketching half naked people, but even more importantly, how can i find a way to place dumbo in here- that friendly flying elephant we all grew up with? hah, kinda a stretch here but its only a sketch. also it was inspired by an editorial i found with the oh so captivating natalia vodianova.

Lanvin Spring 2010 SKETCH

STYLE.COM

i know i posted about lanvin earlier but i cant emphasize enough to all y'all about how broodingly chic every collection that rolls off the direction of alber's hands are.  black has become almost expected and even necessary in his collections, and in this collection particularly he doesnt threaten has chances of become redundant. colors popped out of a gumball machine, as the runway spit out reds, salmon, emerald, and bright blue. the jewelry itself was a gluttonous buffet of golds and silvers, lending itself to a definitive part of the outfit.

Stella McCartney Spring 2010 SKETCH

STYLE.COM

alright, so its official my scanner's drunk off the power it has given me- being able to get these illustrations to you guys. hopefully i can get you the [full] original soon, but i thought i'd make the most out of the scraps it gave me. meh and in other news my skin tone color is running on low. and in even sadder news, i just realized that i labeled it lanvin, fuck. ok maybe u guys shouldnt see the original with full lanvin stamp.  again sorry for the the scanner and for my complete absence of mind.

alright lets get this started, here we have a sketch from stella mccartney s2010, it was hard to choose what to draw she had so many bold colors this season mixed in with the natural tones she's become comfortable with using. calling it the structured ruffle, she mixed em with prints, suit jackets, and dresses, definitely a solid collection but again not my favorite from hers.

Giambattista Valli & Versace Spring 2010 SKETCH

Heres a quick sketch of Giambattista Valli and Versace, Spring 2010.

style.com
To be truthfully honest wasn't really surprised with versace, didnt think it was one of their stronger collections (at all), but its always fun to sketch em, giambattista had some fun pieces lots of fringe and sheer. think i'm gonna give stella mccartney a go for my next sketch, she really knew what she was doin this season, or pretty much every season.

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2010 SKETCH

i gotta say out of most of the collections i saw during fashion week, 3.1 phillip lim really knocked my socks off, his mix of color, textures, and fabrics was fun and a bit rodartesque and also i think truly one of the collections that kept in mind its supposed to be for springtime, instead of loading up on the black like many other designers, he took risks.  which brings me to why i decided to draw it, hope you like the illustration, more to come (hopefully i'll find a larger scanner)
